The Animation Department at Capilano College is proud to announce the
Computer Animation and Visual Effects summer institute. This 8-week full-time
program will provide you with a broad foundation of skills related to
the computer animation industry. This program is designed for individuals
who have an interest in computer animation and visual effects and are
seeking a future career in the industry or who want to further develop
their portfolio prior to entering the full time Digital
Animation Program.
This program will introduce the
process for creating 3D computer graphics and animation. Participants
will have an opportunity to learn and practice Computer Animation, Modeling,
Texturing and Sculpture techniques through hands-on exercises. The following
topic areas will be covered:
Computer Animation Basics
Principles of Character Animation and Timing, Visual Effects and Particle
Systems.
Modeling and Texturing
Character and Prop Design, Modeling and Texturing for Games, Television
and Film.
Design and Sculpture
Character Design, Sculpture and Posing.

Courses and labs take place from 9am to 4pm daily (Monday to Friday).

Admission / Deadlines:
The application deadline for the summer 2008 session is March 31. Candidates
must submit a portfolio of artwork – minimum 5 drawings, designs
or computer work on 8.5 x 11 paper. Copies only, no originals.
Acceptance into the summer program will be based on
a ranked portfolio review of all the applicants. Application review will
begin on March 31, 2008 and continue until the program is full. Candidates
who are admitted into the program will need to secure their space with
a $300 non-refundable deposit. The remaining tuition amount is due in
full on July 2, 2008.
